Sport events share in $4000 funding

CONCENTRATION NEEDED:  The firing line at last year’s Ipswich District Rifle Club prize meet.

THREE major community sporting activities were awarded $4000 in support from Ipswich City Council this week.

Sponsorship was awarded to:

  • Ipswich and District Rifle Club ― $1400 for their Annual Open Prize Meet;
  • Goodna Bowls Club ― $1300 for the Jacaranda Festival Bowls Carnival;  and
  • Ipswich and District Athletics Club ― $2000 for the 34th Annual Winter Carnival.

Parks, Sports and Recreation committee chairman David Morrison said Ipswich was in a great position to host sporting events of all sizes thanks to the city’s first rate facilities, local accommodation options and vibrant hospitality sector.

The Sporting Event Sponsorship program aims to assist eligible organisations to host local, district, regional, state, national and international sporting events within the boundaries of the city.
